One of my first advertising jobs was knocking out quickie comic strips for Times Supermarket Wednesday print ads. The turnaround was pretty quick, usually just a few hours just before deadline when the space was settled on in the coupon layout. The campaign was to influence more “home” cooking. This was often fun, as the strips usually were parodies of classic comic strips. This was the first one, however, and fairly realistic, almost a storyboard approach to a TV ad.
