Hacked?

Written by Burl on February 2nd, 2010

This site got hacked today. I found some odd coding in the header theme and removed it, and that seemed to work. But let me know if the site either doesn’t come up, or comes up for a second and then jumps to some other site….

    Burl,
Glad you got it sorted. I was slightly disturbed (easy for me) to see a big red box plastered over my screen saying VIRUS ALERT PAGE BLOCKED. Thankfully my firewall worked!

    Cheers,
    BVB

So it wasn’t just me. I got redirected to a web site offering to perform a security scan of my Windows OS. And I use a Mac

BB, did you see my email to you regarding the virus? Glad you removed it.

It’s pretty unusual for a Mac to get hacked. But these WordPress blog softwares are kept on the server, not on the home computer. People were getting different responses to the embedded coding, but the odd thing was that problems disappeared when using megaproxy.com, which was a clue that a “script” had been embedded. Luckily, it was easy to spot.

I just got in no problem.

Wordpress had some major difficulties about 2-3 months ago… wonder if those same problems are lurking?
