John Simonds, 75 and still parsing after all these years.
That’s how former Star-Bulletin editor John Simonds was described in a book once. Pretty good description. John is one of those guys who is fascinated by the angles people bring to any situation, and he’s usually two steps ahead of you on any subject imaginable. He was an unusually insightful editorial page editor, although his ability to examine an issue from all sides simultaneously mitigated against the paper’s editorials popping off on easy judgments. He’s likely never made a snap decision in his life, except maybe for hiring me.
Yesterday was John’s 75th birthday, and we were privileged to wish him well. Here he is reading something from a list. He’s big on lists.
Once again, flummoxed by people who drive monster trucks to work — and they work in office buildings. 2010/09/02
Enter "Kaneohe Elementary School" into Google, and it will direct you to a random elementary school somewhere in Kaneohe. Not the right one. 2010/08/31
